than 300 prisoners escaped when hordes of militants attacked a prison
in southern Pakistan. Among the prisoners who escaped was considered
extremely dangerous.
Reported by the BBC, Sunday, April 15, 2012, incident occurred on Saturday afternoon local time. Dozens of militants using trucks and cars attacked a prison in the town of Bannu, Pakhtunkhwa Khyber region, with fire and throw grenades.
The exchange of fire between security forces and the militants lasted for two hours. At least 381 of 1,000 prisoners in the prison managed to escape. Three policemen were reported injured in the incident.
The attackers fired rockets toward the iron gate of the prison to break into. Chaotic conditions in the prison cell doors are broken down force. Prison walls full of bullet holes.
A total of 20 of the prisoners who escaped into the category of extremely dangerous. One of them is Adnan Rashid, a former member of Pakistan's air force who was sentenced for life from the assassination attempt on President Pervez Musharraf.
Taliban militants claimed to be behind the attack. The action they take to relieve their comrades from prison.
"We have freed hundreds of our comrades in the attack in Bannu. Some detainees have now reached their destination, the rest of the way," said Taliban spokesman quoted by Reuters. viva
